Sewing 101
Sewing 101
Learn to sew with TQT! In this 3 part class, you will learn the basics of sewing using our classroom sewing machines. By the end of the course, you will have gained a wealth of knowledge including the following: proper sewing techniques, the basics of bag making, working with zippers, reading and using patterns, the basics of garment construction and more!
We will start with a thorough introduction to the sewing machine and get you familiar with winding a bobbin, threading the machine and operating it confidently. Then we will make a simple drawstring bag, followed by a set of zipper pouches and finally a pair of pajama shorts.
This class is perfect for anyone with little to no sewing experience, as well as those who have not sewn in years and need a refresher. You don’t even need to own a sewing machine to take this class!
The registration fee covers the instruction and use of a classroom sewing machine and rotary cutters. On the first day of class, students will pay a $95 materials fee for a kit that includes all the patterns, fabric, ribbon, zippers, elastic and interfacing required to complete all 4 projects. Students should provide their own scissors, pins and marking pen - these are available for purchase at TQT.
The Fall 2025 Session meets on the following days: Thursday, October 2, October 9 and October 16 from noon to 4pm.
Students must attend all 3 classes as scheduled - there are no makeup days or refunds.
Please note that this class is for adults, not kids.
