The Quilter's Trunk is an Authorized Service Center for Brother, Baby Lock, BERNINA and Janome. We are pleased to have John Supan and his son Johnny on board as our sewing machine and serger technicians. In addition to factory training from the brands we sell, John Sr. has more than 30 years of experience servicing and repairing all brands of sewing machines. They also provide scissor sharpening service! They are on site on Fridays.

  • Has it been more than a year since your machine was last cleaned?

  • Did you inherit a machine and have no idea when it was last tuned up?

  • Are your stitches less than perfect?

  • Does your machine look like THIS on the inside? (Hint - it probably does!)

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then it is time to bring your machine in for some TLC. John & Johnny will clean, oil and adjust your sewing machine, embroidery machine or serger and get it back in tip top shape.

To serve you better, you may schedule an appointment to drop off your sewing machine for service.

  • An appointment is not required, and we do take walk-ins.

  • Machines with scheduled appointments receive priority and may be ready sooner than walk-ins.

  • Your drop-off appointment secures your spot in the queue for service, and is not necessarily the day your machine will be worked on.

  • A $20 refundable deposit is necessary to make your drop-off appointment. This deposit will be applied to the final cost of your service.

  • If you have more than one machine to bring in, you must make an appointment for each one.

  • Select the appointment time that works best for you from the calendar below.

  • You will receive a confirmation email after you complete this process, and a reminder email 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. You may reschedule your appointment using a link in either of those emails at any time for no additional charge.

  • When your machine service is completed, you will receive an email from TQT with an invoice. Simply pay the invoice directly from that email and come collect your machine.

  • If you need assistance or if you need to cancel an appointment, call the shop at (773) 980-1100.

When you arrive for your appointment, if you do not wish to come into the shop, call us at (773) 980-1100 and we will make arrangements to get your machine from you. Please bring ONLY the following with your machine:

  • Power cord

  • Foot pedal

  • Zig zag presser foot

  • Zig zag needle plate

  • Spool cap you generally use

  • Bobbin in the bobbin case

  • Hard case or trolley (optional)

  • Embroidery module with smallest hoop (if applicable)

Do not bring any other accessories, manual or thread, unless you are requesting your serger to be threaded for you.

*The $20 deposit is fully or partially refundable if the work performed is under warranty, if you request an estimate and decide not to proceed with a repair, if the charge for the service performed is less than $20, or if you cancel your appointment.

In addition to servicing sewing machines, John will sharpen your scissors! Drop them off and he will have them back to you the following week.
