Who We Are

A HUGE thanks to everyone who helped The Quilter's Trunk win the Small Business Boost! Watch our commercial which aired on NBC 5 Chicago.

The idea for The Quilter's Trunk began when the owner, Katie, took a quilting class taught by Lisa, now the store manager. Both of us longed for a high quality sewing shop in our neighborhood. Over a fateful cup of coffee one morning, the idea took hold and we were off! After nearly two years of planning, attending trade shows, visiting suppliers, managing renovations and telling everyone we knew that sewing and quilting are thriving art forms, The Quilter's Trunk opened for business in September 2015.

Our location is unique. We both live in Chicago and are raising our families here. We are committed to this great city we call home. We have more than 4,000 square feet of space, and our very own private parking lot - which is very rare in the city of Chicago!

We began with Baby Lock sewing machines and sergers, and added BERNINA to the mix a year later. Baby Lock's headquarters are in nearby St. Louis, MO while BERNINA is in Aurora. Both are family owned businesses which are committed to taking care of their retailers. As a result, we are able take good care of our customers. Our trusted technician, John, has more than 30 years of experience servicing all makes and models of sewing machines.

We are here to offer inspiration, tools and advice to sewing enthusiasts and creators of all skill levels. At the same time, we are constantly inspired by our amazing, talented customers. The community we are part of is centered around support and creativity. It is an honor to serve this community, and sometimes we have to pinch ourselves because we are so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people!
